These girls are used for most likely 10 years of their 17 years of life. Push to the limit and groomed to be perfect or discarded. Reinforced by their governments to show off their best athletes too. The pressure would most likely ruin anyone, let alone these girls barely even an adult. This manager that ruins these girls also discards them at 17-18 either way.

All athletes are on some sort of designer drugs, it's just not everyone is tested and caught. Coaches work closely with scientists who develop formula that won't be detected on test.

We're in the same page like I love Zhenya and I think Eteri fascinating human even though I know how problematic this woman can be???? Another thing, If Eteri can't get over that breakup to this day, it's because of the students she had, and this seems obvious to me, that Zhenya was the pupil she loved the most (and still loves deeply). In May 2014, the first victim of trimetazidine use was Chinese swimmer Sun Yang, the Olympic champion was disqualified by the local federation for 3 months. Man i feel bad for the Russian women’s skaters bc it seems like scandals haunt them n always seem to revolve around their coach who one way or another screws them over. It’s odd to me that three favorites either got injuries right before or was allowed to take drugs that are banned.

I had seen exactly one skating program, years before, of Sasha Cohen's 2002 skate to ''My Sweet and Tender Beast'' (a favorite waltz; I was looking for ballroom of it when I found her SP), and I had liked it but there were too many jumps and not enough musical expression in it for me. Oh, but then. I don't know how I got to the video, because I don't watch sports. But I did, and I was completely wrapped up in it, which never happens ever, but it did and then I read the comments and found people saying they didn't get gold??? So I went on Wikipedia to find out who did (who the heck managed to top _that_?) but they did but the year was off?? I knew nothing about figure skating; I remember trying to figure out what an exhibition was because there didn't seem to be any explanation I could find, and spent a while confused before I ironed it out by exposure, watching nearly everything T&D I found. Then there was G&G, and Klimova and Ponomarenko's 1992 FS, Anissina and Peizerat, the Duchesnays, Katarina Witt the Queen and...as you can see, I fell down the rabbit hole. Somewhere between the retro-ish skaters of the 80s and 90s, and the vintage skaters of anything black and white, I found some videos on the drama and trouble of modern skaters in the last ten or so years - your channel, and Fran's - and I spent quite some time on them, mostly yours, learning to hate Tutberidze as is appropriate. (Evgenia is my favorite and it burns me that she got so close to making it out and didn't. Elizabeta Tuktamysheva is the reigning empress, even if I have mixed opinions on her programs. I hope some other non-Eteri girl can triumph too.) That's where I am today :D

Before Tutberidze, Irina Slutskaya was the face Russian women's figure skating . She represented the country with pure poise and class. Now the maturity level is lower than toddlers and tiaras. I do not blame the athletes at all and respect their dedication and passion for the sport of figure skating. Tutberidze will take all the credit for the wins and no responsibility for the losses.
